RIP Chimp

So theres quite a story behind this one. I came to college with really great expectations, right? I was so geared up for my drawing class because I was thinking that we'd be doing lots of figure drawing and still life and drawing from life.....which is usually the case. So when we only had class for about 45 minutes the first day, and were sent away with the assignment to do what our idea of a "drawing" was, I of course went off and drew up this cute little chimp, highly rendered in graphite (as is my wont). When we got to class the next week and put up our drawings, not only was mine the only realistic one, but the professor decided that they were all "crap" and that it was an "absolute disaster." We were told to rip our drawings in half and tape them to a neighbor's half, and then we spent the rest of the day making horrible messes over the top of them. We've been making abstract messes ever since. Needless to say, the professor and I don't get along very well. In fact, he dislikes me so much, he talks about me in his other classes. How lovely, eh?
