Artist's Comments

This was an assignment for Illustration, it was suppossed to be a film noir-inspired black and white illustration that gets across the idea of mystery, and also uses a setting based in Providence--meaning we actually had to go out and walk around to find a place. Boo.

Black and white acrylic on board, 12x16".

Wow. Looks like an actual photograph. The cobblestones look way interesting :) Reminds me of that film "From Hell" with Johnny Depp for some reason ;P
Very very very nice =)

Providence for a film noir setting? Yeesh. Though, it looks like you found a pretty good spot. The light on the cobblestone looks great!
This really gets the idea of a film noir mystery across. I expect that any minute the character will turn towards the camera and start telling a story. The clouds and the dark alley really set the mood.

This is gorgeous...if I hadn't known that you were such a lovely painter, I would've thought that this was photograph as well. =p I particularly like the silhouette and the cobblestones.
